About the Fabric:
+ Made with hand-loomed Dhakai Jamdani fabric from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
+ The word jamdani derives from Persian; ‘jam‘, meaning flower, and ‘dani‘, meaning container or vase. It refers to the decorative floral patterns traditionally used in weaving jamdani.
+ Historically, it is regarded as one of the finest muslins in the world, and the art form thrived under Mughal patronage. The jamdani weaving technique is found to be mentioned in historical records as early as 300 AD.
+ On average, it takes a master artisan about nine months to one year to weave about six metres of Dhakai jamdani fabric.
+ The mastery of the jamdani artisan lies in weaving the patterns, or butis, simply by eye. Nothing is drawn or pre-sketched on the fabric. The sheerness of the muslin fabric contrasts with the intricacy of the buti, making it appear as if it is floating across the fabric.
+ The natural lightness and breathability of jamdani cloth makes it ideally suitable for long nights of peaceful sleep. The fineness of the fabric is such that even though it is cotton, it has a soft, silky feel.
